TPO 44 Independent Writing

Some people believe that when busy parents do not have a lot of time to spend with their children, the best use of that time is to have fun playing games or sports. Others believe that it is best to use that time doing things together that are related to schoolwork.

In society nowadays, parents usually spend much time at work to earn money for family expenditure. Whether parents should spend their treasure time with children playing games and sports or doing schoolwork can be weighed in many aspects. From my perspective, I agree with the later statement that it is best for parents to do schoolwork with children.

Admittedly, some people might argue that parents should play a role in outside school development for children. For example, sports can help children build up good physical development and enhance family relationships when doing pressure-release activities. However, parents are also important for children’s education, and they can understand more about the kid’s situation at school by helping their homework.

First of all, when doing things that are related to schoolwork, parents can understand their children’s learning status and ability. For example, during elementary school studies, children are developing many skills, such as people skills, verbal ability, and quantitative ability. A school is a place that provides children an environment learning necessary abilities for entering society. In this process, parents are essential to care about children’s performance at school and listen to children’s sharing and give any feedback. After all, if parents do not pay attention to children’s studies, they may fall behind than other peers and lose their learning passion. Therefore, parents should look after children’s study performance and help them when it is needed.

On the other hand, education responsibility not only falls on teachers in the school but also on parents at home. Moreover, when dealing with school-related works, parents can enhance their relationship with children. For example, children may be too nervous and shy to ask questions in class and carry these problems home. At this moment, parents should answer questions for children, and they can impart their opinions and knowledge as well. Through the interaction, parents can show the reliability to children, and children will reduce a sense of anxiety for asking questions. Consequently, parents are also responsible for children’s education, and they can build up a closer connection with their kids.

To sum up, I prefer to concur with the later statement that it is best for parents to do school works with children. Based on my expositions mentioned above, parents are also crucial in playing an education role in children’s development. Furthermore, they can benefit from playing that role to enhance their relationship with children.
