It is important to know about events happening around the world, even if it is unlikely that they will affect your daily life.
Society nowadays has connected closely to each other, from individuals to countries scale. Whether it is important to know about events happening around the world, even if it is unlikely affecting our daily lives, can be weighed in many aspects. From my perspective, I concur with the statement that it is essential to care about events happening around the world. The reason will be discussed below.
Admittedly, some people will hold a position that regional events will only affect local people. For example, the wildfire in California burn out many forests and residential houses, and it only leaves resident in hazard rather than a larger scale. However, the fire will create a broader influence in the atmosphere on Earth. Therefore, we can discuss two aspects that events in every corner around the world can affect our daily life.
First of all, all human beings live on the same planet, Mother Earth, sharing resources and relishing the same natural environment. If there is any problem in the system, people will be affected by it no matter how long it takes. For example, global warming has been a long-standing issue for humans. Since the industrialization, people exploit fossil fuels to produce many plastic products and power vehicles, establishing a convenient world. However, the byproduct of using fossil fuels is increasing the amount of carbon dioxide, and it gradually increases the global temperature, making some animals in extinction margin such as Polar bears. Moreover, warming also makes the sea level rise and reduce the land space for living. Therefore, we clearly understand that every problem will affect many aspects. It is a chain sequence that people should not ignore the events happening outside their daily life.
On the other hand, because of the technology advanced, international trade has become a prominent economic system that countries have commerce with others more frequently than ever. It means that any serious problem will affect many people in different regions. For example, the outbreak of COVID-19 from one place is the most critical and severe problem worldwide. Because of the pandemic, people have to change the way of life, and the relation of demand and supply drastically changed. In this case, the economy around the world cannot avoid the possibility of a recession, slump in the stock market, and a high unemployment rate. Although the initial problem did not affect many countries, the outbreak affects every aspect of people’s lives regardless of regions and races. Therefore, because of globalization in many fields, such as economy and trade, all people are on the same boat, and we cannot leave ourselves aside.
To sum up, the statement is as persuasive as it stands. Based on my expositions mentioned above, any local problem will affect all people on the planet. Because we share the same natural environment and close connection in many fields, people should care about events happening around the world.
